Always nice to meet a fellow 1977er. We're getting old. Yeah buddy, loud and clear. We're getting old. I would have never suspected that years ago... LOL. 1977, such a great year. We're a complicated batch of people, even.

Darn good year. We're a fine vintage. Returning to the original thread, I must check that sequence featuring Henrietta in 1982. That's a focal point.

Errmm, if by the guys you mean Ash and Co...? I always assumed they went in without permission. Never thought about it too deeply, to be honest.

I think they did in the first movie, too. Scotty's BS about "the guy renting it says it's an old place... so cheap...". Cheap? They just went in after finding the barely-concealed key. No mention of who this mysterious guy is. Surely a Professor of whatever wouldn't let these fools go in messing about with his book and tape...
I'm confused now. Isn't the guy on the tape unnamed in the first movie?

Isn't the guy on the tape unnamed in the first movie? Unnamed. "Knowby" is a retcon coming from ED2. I'm still convinced that Scott rented the place, and the guy was an agent of some sort. I think originally, before ED2, the archeologist was supposed to be just an host who rented the cabin years and years before Ash & Co. By the way, you just inspired me to think about a new theory. Maybe the "agent" just dealt with the guys illegally and the Knowby Cabin wasn't supposed to be available for renting, being a private property?

Interesting theory! It may be explained in due time.

Interesting theory! It may be explained in due time. And I remember that Linda was VERY perplexed about the fact the cabin was so "cheap". Suspicious. So it makes a lot of sense. The keys on the door... maybe the guy was supposed to care about the cabin when Knowby wasn't there. Knowby may have hired him for that.

I think Bruce Campbell described this stage of Ash as a shy dummy with a Moe haircut or something, lol.
