The Sabertooth Tiger Killer Timeline:
Martha, Carlo's mother, was the "Sabertooth Tiger Killer" (in its early stages, Argento wanted to title the movie "The Sabertooth Tiger" then changed his mind).
She was a very famous and talented actress, but a psychopath/psychotic too. Psychopaths are born, not created, and she was one of them.
Anonymously and far from Italian paparazzi, she rented (or bought) an house in Rome - the "Haunted Mansion" featured in the movie. Nobody knew she was living in there, apart the very few persons she trusted in.
Her husband wanted her to be hospitalized and "cured", but she refused. On Christmas's eve, she slaughtered the husband in front of Carlo's eyes - her little child. The infamous childish song was playing in the background.
She "buried" the room and the corpse through newly-constructed walls. How did she manage to do that by herself? Well, psychopaths have many resources and their I.Q. is vastly higher than average. They are also stronger than us.
Most likely, she went to Police and warned them her husband was "missing". They investigated the surroundings and found no evidence. The case was soon archived after months or 1 year.
In the while, Martha moved away with her child/boy. However, Carlo was so much traumatized that he used to secretly visit the silent house and play the song again... and he also used to SCREAM like a crazy as well. That created the "curse legend" surrounding the mansion and reported on the book.
The house was then bought by someone else and Martha was then obviously "forced" to kill the new occupant before he would discover the hidden room.
The "accidental death" reinforced and cemented the terrible legend surrounding the house. Nobody purchased the mansion anymore.
Amanda wrote the book, but used a photograph depicting the house BEFORE Martha and her husband would buy/rent it. Thus, the hidden room was still visible on the picture.
P.s.: Martha used green eye lens when she killed Amanda as part of a "possible" disguise/to not be recognized.
